Make your own Teriyaki Sauce Saba Fish.

Why bother to buy pre-made Teriyaki Sauce if you can make your own with just four ingredients. You may prepare more to store in the fridge for later use.  Teriyaki sauce goes well with everything from meat, seafood to even vegetable.



4 tbsp soy sauce. 4 tbsp sake. 4 tbsp mirin. 2 tbsp sugar. Optional: grated or minced ginger and garlic.      1 tbsp of sesame oil. 1 tsp of 7 spices chili powder. 1 slice of deboned Saba.

* multiple the portion of the ingredients if you want to prepare more to store.

Preparation steps

  1. Add all the liquid ingredients and sugar for the Teriyaki Sauce in a pot to cook.  
  2. Add 1 tbsp (or more base on individual preference) of grated ginger and garlic to bring up the taste of the sauce. Grated ginger and garlic can be replaced with ginger and garlic oil. If you prefer spicy sauce, add a tsp of 7 spices chili powder.
  3. Once boiled, put it aside to cool for later use.
  4. Grilled or sauteed the Saba fish fillet. When the Saba is done, drizzle the Teriyaki sauce over it.  If you prefer a more moist fillet, add a ¼ cup of sauce (instead of drizzle) to the fish then let it cooks for 1-2 mins.
  5. Garnish the Saba with some salad and it is ready to go with a bowl of steamed rice.
